About Cornwall & Devon Branch
The branch supports early childhood education practitioners from schools, the private, voluntary and independent sector, childminders and students from all over Devon and beyond.
In recent years, our speakers have included Bernadette Duffy, Marion Dowling, Dr Liz Wood, Dr Susan Edwards, Dr Sue Rogers and local Early Years Consultants. We have arranged setting visits to local Children’s Centres, a Steiner school and held Forest School Taster Days.
The current committee of 3 has been working together since 2005 and we would welcome new members to join our meetings and support us in arranging and helping at events. We normally meet 2-3 times a year including the AGM. Most of our business is conducted by email or telephone.
We aim to hold at least two events per year, normally held in the Summer and Autumn terms.
We also aim to hold one lecture and one ‘principles into practice’ session each year.
Events are held in venues in and around Exeter. Events are normally held on Thursday evenings from 4 – 6pm or from 7 – 9pm.
Our plans for the year include:
13.03.17 - Interacting or Interfering? Improving Interactions in the Early Years - with Julie Fisher
12.06.17 - International Approaches to Early Childhood Education and Care – things aren’t always what they seem - with Verity Campbell-Barr and Branch AGM
Our previous events include:
29.02.16 - Sustaining and Supporting Young Children Thinking: The Role of the Adult - with Marion Dowling
12.05.16 - Exploring Children’s Funds of Knowledge at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum
23.06.16 - Annual General Meeting
Further details to come in due course.
