EARLY
EDUCATION ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE
The British Association for Early Childhood Education (Early Education) has
announced the appointment of Megan Pacey as incoming Chief Executive of the
Association. She will take up the role when the current Chief Executive,
Anne Nelson, leaves at the end of March.

Early Education is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chief
Executive Megan Pacey.
Megan is keen to return to her roots in the early years and will bring a new
perspective and skills to the Association. During the recruitment process
Megan impressed the panel with her research, thinking and enthusiasm for
early childhood education.
Early Education would like to thank the current Chief Executive, Anne
Nelson, who has worked so hard to strengthen the Association and demonstrate
Early Education’s commitment to the needs of our youngest children. We are
delighted to have appointed Megan who we know will continue and enhance this
work.
Megan Pacey, incoming Chief Executive of Early Education says:
I am excited to have been appointed to the role of Chief Executive of Early
Education and to have the opportunity to bring my skills and experience to
lead an organisation whose work is so vital to the education and wellbeing
of our society.
I look forward to working with the Chair and Trustees, President and Vice
Presidents, as well as Early Education’s branches, members and staff team to
take forward the organisations agenda at this exciting time.
Megan Pacey was born and educated in New Zealand. She completed a a BA with
majors in Education and History in 1996 and an MA (Hons) in Education at the
University of Auckland in 1999. In 1998, she was a recipient of a New
Zealand Association for Research in Education Travel Award.
Following the completion of her MA thesis, Megan spent some time travelling,
before being appointed in December 1999, to work on policy and campaigns
programmes at Daycare Trust. Between 1999 and 2003, Megan’s work included
the ‘Time for Children’s Centres’ and ‘Men in Childcare’ campaigns. Other
roles have included Associate Director at a private policy research company
and Policy and Development Manager at the young person’s homeless prevention
charity, Alone in London. Since November 2005, Megan has been Director of
Policy and Campaigns at the Institute of Fundraising.
