Aims and objectives:
This course offers practical ideas and related theory and thinking to develop a variety of environments to encourage movement and dance work within settings. Participants will explore the role of movement and dance within a child’s development and how to create movement and dance rich environments. Participants will be given handouts with related resources and further reading. The course will be practical, interactive, and requires no previous knowledge or experience of dance.
Delegates will have opportunities to:
- explore the role movement and dance play in healthy development including brain development and sensory integration, relationship building, sense of self, and creativity.
- explore the notion of ‘enabling environments’ - Emotional space, Physical space, collaboration and the role of an adult.
- design a variety of environments to encourage movement and dance work within settings by exploring materials, props and creating structures which invite movement responses and exploration
- deepen their understanding of the role movement and dance rich environments can play within their setting.
