This course gives participants opportunities to explore:

  • diversity in early years – challenges and opportunities; 
  • how values, beliefs and EY practice may support prejudice
  • the problem with deficit models of children and families 
  • the achievement gap – what does it mean? 
  • inequalities in policy and practice – implications for children and families;
  • cultural capital and children’s ‘funds of knowledge’; 
  • making relationships, moving forward.
