Essex branch Launch event! - A Listening Pedagogy in Pistoia

This talk will present an educational project based on listening to young children in Pistoia in central Italy, where a common approach to early childhood education based on best practice in the Region has developed over the past forty years. Rose will talk about her work with the early education services in Pistoia, Italy. She will discuss how a pedagogy of listening informs and shapes early childhood education provision and practices in Pistoia. Rose will discuss the work based on long term projects which arise from children’s interests and the provision of time and space to explore through play. Using filmed material from Pistoia, the teacher’s role will be explored in relation to learners within a pedagogy of listening framework.
