Jeanette Hiatt

Early Education Associate

Jeanette’s career in early years education spans more than 30 years. She has taught in Nursery and Reception classes and was a Foundation Stage Lead, before becoming a Local Authority Senior Advisor for Early Years. This role enabled her to support schools and settings in quality improvement and best practice, as well as lead on the CLLD project in Warwickshire. Jeanette then spent five years as a maintained Nursery School Headteacher in two establishments, each with a Children’s Centre supporting children and families in the area. As well as teaching across the primary age range, Jeanette has also had been in role as Headteacher in one infant and three primary schools, and has been Executive Headteacher in two organisations, one of which included leadership of a Nursery School. She has supported beyond her own school as an LLE, and a Pupil Premium Reviewer, and has worked with the DfE on a Recruitment & Retention tailored support programme. Since 2018, Jeanette has worked as an independent consultant, with particular expertise in leadership and the EYFS. This role affords her the opportunity to work with schools and settings in a number of Local Authorities and Multi Academy Trusts. Most recently, she has worked as Senior Advisor Birth to 5 within Coventry Local Authority. Jeanette has particular expertise in working with schools and settings to provide bespoke programmes of professional development, especially in the areas of leadership, workforce development, and curriculum development.
