Amanda King
Early Education Associate
Amanda’s career in early years education spans over 25 years, and includes teaching in KS1, reception and nursery, including a role as Foundation Stage coordinator in a large primary school. Amanda spent six years working as an early years improvement consultant, advising across the birth to five remit. Additionally, she gained wide experience in the development of children’s centres, leading a team of children’s centre teachers. Throughout both roles she worked closely with practitioners and developed a range of training and documentation, used and disseminated nationally. Amanda became Headteacher of a maintained nursery school and children’s centre in 2009. This led to working as an Executive Headteacher across two maintained nursery schools and co-leading a teaching school from 2014 to 2020. Currently Amanda is the Strategic Lead for Early Years within Warwickshire LA. She has a special interest in Leadership and quality improvement, supporting vulnerable learners, and curriculum development. Amanda is a trained section 5 Ofsted inspector and can support settings and schools in this area.
