New edition of Birth to 5 Matters launched
The Early Years Coalition has launched the updated and expanded second edition of Birth to 5 Matters (Bto5M), non-statutory guidance for the Early Years Foundation
We welcome the announcement that, while changes will be kept to a minimum in most of the guidance, the revised Birth to 5 Matters will include new sections on areas where practitioners are seeking further support, namely:
Suggestions for additional materials such as a version for parents and a version for school leaders will be considered by the Early Years Coalition as the review project continues.
The Early Years Coalition has published the results of the sector survey, and set out how it will respond to the feedback. Early Education is well-represented in the 23 expert Working Groups, who are digesting specific comments from the survey and reviewing new research to produce a draft of a revised Bto5M which will be published for further public comment in the spring.
